Ticker Utility Bar

Ticker Utility Bar Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 5 October 2026

1. What this policy covers

This policy describes the Ticker Utility Bar application, the software you install on your device. It should be read together with the Ticker Utility Bar Terms of Use.

It does not describe the stupandas.com website, which is covered by the separate Terms of Use and Privacy Policy published on this website.

2. The short version

Ticker Utility Bar does not collect your personal information. There are no accounts with us, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Your watchlist, rules, alerts, notes and settings are stored on your own device and are never sent to us.

The App talks directly to the price sources you connect. Your prices, your symbols and your brokerage account details go between your device and that source, and never through us.

There is one exception, and we would rather state it than bury it: when you sign in to cTrader, your sign-in passes through a small service of ours for a few seconds, because cTrader requires it. Section 6.2 explains exactly what passes through, and what it does not keep.

3. Who we are

Ticker Utility Bar is provided by Stupandas (ABN 94 696 024 046), a registered business name operating as a sole trader in Australia. You can contact us at support@stupandas.com.

If the operation of Stupandas or the App is transferred to a successor entity, including a company later formed for that purpose, this policy continues to apply. Since we hold no personal information about you, there is no user data to transfer.

4. What the App stores on your device

The App saves the following on your own device:

  • Your settings: your watchlist, rules, alerts, hotkeys, buttons, clocks, sessions, levels, notes, the feeds you have added, and your display preferences. These are kept in %APPDATA%\stupandas.tickerutilitybar. This is the Windows roaming folder, so if your computer is managed by an organisation that uses roaming profiles, Windows may copy it between that organisation's machines. We play no part in that.
  • The position and layout of the bar on your screens, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\stupandas.tickerutilitybar.
  • Your Alert History: a record of each alert that fired or was held back, with its time, the rule, the symbol and the price, so that you can always check whether an alert actually fired. By default it keeps the current and previous calendar month, and you can change that in Settings.
  • Your Connection Log: a record of when each connection to a price source or feed opened, closed or failed, and what the source said. It is on by default, capped at 50 MB, and both can be changed in Settings. Any password, key or token is replaced with <redacted> before a line is written, so a secret never exists in the file.
  • A copy of the economic calendar, so the Calendar works when you are offline.
  • Copies of your notes, if you use the Notes backup. These go to your Documents folder by default, or to a folder you choose, as plain files you can open, move or delete yourself. If your Documents folder is synced, for example by OneDrive, those copies are synced with it, by that service and under its terms.
  • Your sign-in details for your price sources and feeds: passwords, API keys and access tokens. These are never written to a file. They are kept in Windows Credential Manager, which Windows encrypts for your Windows account.

This information stays on your device. It is not uploaded, synced or backed up by us. We have no ability to read it, and no copy of it exists anywhere else unless you export it yourself or a service you use copies it, as described above.

Uninstalling the App may leave these folders in place, so that reinstalling or upgrading does not cost you your setup. To remove everything, delete the two folders named above, and remove the entries beginning stupandas.tickerutilitybar from Windows Credential Manager. The App's Reset option in Settings also clears your settings. If you want to keep a copy first, or move your setup to another computer, use Export in Settings.

5. What the App does not do

To be explicit, Ticker Utility Bar does not:

  • create an account with us, or ask you for your name, email or any other identifier;
  • collect analytics, usage statistics, crash reports or diagnostics;
  • contain advertising or advertising code, or promote any product, symbol or service;
  • track you across apps, sites or devices;
  • sell, rent or share personal information with anyone (there is none to share);
  • read or record your keystrokes. A hotkey you assign is registered with Windows, and Windows tells the App when that shortcut is pressed and nothing else;
  • place trades, or ask your broker for trading permission. Where a source offers a read-only connection, the App asks for read-only;
  • read or write any file except its own, as listed in section 4, and a file you explicitly choose to import, export, open or save.

6. The connections the App makes

6.1. Your price sources. The App connects directly from your device to each price source you set up, currently Kraken and cTrader. It sends that source the symbols you are watching and, where the source requires it, your sign-in details, and it receives prices and, for a brokerage account, the list of your accounts so that you can choose one. None of this passes through us. Each source handles it under its own privacy policy, which you agreed to when you opened your account with them.

6.2. Signing in to cTrader. cTrader's sign-in can only be completed by an application that holds a secret issued by cTrader, and that secret cannot safely be shipped inside an installed app. So this one step goes through a small service of ours at stupandas.com:

  • You type your cTrader password only into cTrader's own pages. It never reaches the App or us.
  • After you approve access, cTrader sends your browser to a page at stupandas.com that passes the approval code to the App on your own computer.
  • The App sends that code, and later the token used to renew your sign-in, to our service. The service adds the secret, asks cTrader for your access token, and hands the result straight back to the App, which stores it in Windows Credential Manager.
  • The service stores nothing and logs nothing. The code and token pass through it in a few seconds, on their way to your device.
  • The service never sees your prices, your symbols, your account list or anything else. Those go directly between your device and cTrader.
  • The access requested from cTrader is read-only.
  • The page your browser visits at stupandas.com is part of this website, so it is also covered by the website Privacy Policy, including its use of Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not log query strings, which is the part of the page's address that carries the approval code.

6.3. The economic calendar. The App checks stupandas.com for an updated economic calendar about once a day. The request carries the App's version and a key that identifies that version, and nothing about you: not which countries you follow, and no identifier.

6.4. SEC filings. If you turn on the SEC EDGAR feed, the App downloads the SEC's public list of recent filings from sec.gov and picks out the ones for the companies you watch on your own device. The SEC does not learn which companies you watch. As the SEC asks of automated tools, each request names this software and gives support@stupandas.com as its contact. It does not identify you.

6.5. Feeds you add. If you add a news feed, the App fetches the address you gave it, directly from your device. If that feed needs a key, the App sends your key to that address and nowhere else. What the feed's operator does with your request is governed by their own policy.

6.6. Links you open. When you open a link from the bar, such as a news story or a page you have chosen for a symbol, it opens in your own web browser. Nothing is sent until you click it, and anything you do from that point is between you and that website.

6.7. Our hosting provider. The services in sections 6.2 and 6.3 run on Cloudflare. Like any server on the internet, it necessarily sees your IP address when your device connects to it. Cloudflare handles that under its own privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

6.8. The Microsoft Store. If you install the App from the Microsoft Store, the Store handles its download, installation and updates. That is between you and Microsoft, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement. The App does not sell anything today. If we add paid features, this policy will say what, if anything, the App learns about your purchase before they are offered.

Apart from these, the App itself makes no network connections.

One caveat we would rather state than gloss over: Ticker Utility Bar runs inside the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime, a Windows component supplied by Microsoft. We do not control it and cannot speak for it. It may communicate with Microsoft independently of anything the App does, for example to check for its own updates. That is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement above, not by this policy.

7. Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about you, most data rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) have nothing for us to act on. Your data is already entirely in your hands: Export in Settings gives you a portable copy, and section 4 explains how to delete it.

If you believe we hold personal information about you and want to access, correct or delete it, or if you have a privacy complaint, email support@stupandas.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. If you are in the EU, UK or another region with its own data protection authority, you may also complain to your local regulator.

8. Age

Ticker Utility Bar is for people aged 18 or over who are trading or following the markets, and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

9. International users

The App is available worldwide. Your own data does not leave your device to reach us, so there is no international transfer of it by us. The brief transit described in section 6.2 runs on Cloudflare's global network, which may handle it in a country other than your own. Your dealings with your price sources, Cloudflare and Microsoft are governed by their own policies, which cover their own transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above. The current version is always the one published on this page. If a future version of the App ever begins collecting information (it does not today, and we have no plans for it to), we will say so here, and in the App's release notes, before it happens.

11. Contact

If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact us at support@stupandas.com.
